  Micro-Phakonit Cataract Removal

     through a 0.7 mm needle (First

     time in the World)
 

On May 21st 2005 for the first time in the world Cataracts were removed with a specially designed needle of 0.7 mm. The surgery was carried out by Dr. Amar Agarwal, Director of Dr. Agarwal's Eye Hospital, Chennai, India. The instruments were designed by Dr. Agarwal and manufactured by Micro Surgicals Technology, (U.S.A).

 

  ABERROPIA
A new refractive error called ABERROPIA has been discovered by him, just as we have Myopia (short sight) and Hypermetropia (long sight) now there is another refractive error called ABERROPIA.

  No Anesthesia Cataract Surgery
He has devised new techniques of surgery. He is the first to perform "Cataract Surgery without Anesthesia in the World" and published his articles in several journals.

   

  FAVIT
His other discoveries are: FAVIT, a technique for removing FAllen nucleus into the VITreous.

AIRPUMP technique to remove the surge during Phacoemulsification.

 TRYPAN Blue Assisted Surgeries
BLURHEX (TRYPAN Blue) in the management of mature cataracts, staining Epiretinal membrane in Vitreo-Retinal Surgeries.

NEW MIRROR TELESCOPIC IOL IMPLANTED FIRST TIME     IN THE WORLD at DR.AGARWAL'S EYE HOSPITAL,     INDIA

Dr.Amar Agarwal Director Dr.Agarwal's eye hospital, Chennai, India has implanted for the first time in the world a new mirror telescopic Intraocular lens (IOL). This was done on Thursday 21st June 2006 at the hospital. This lens was invented by Dr.Lipshitz from israel.
